Everyone
now has a phone and that is great of course. But one thing is common with the
phone users. To be specific, one group of phone users. Parents.
I am not going to talk about how they don’t know how to use all the apps
and other options in the phone. No, the problem I am facing and I guess some of
you are far more simple.
What’s
the scariest thing you could see in your phone?
Scary picture? Low battery?
Cracked screen? Noo, that is nothing in compared to 8-15 missed calls. Because
you know when you have so many missed calls it can only be from your mother
that is already angry as hell. So now you are scared as hell. And you know you
will get hell, when you phone her back.
And
I quite often had this problem. Why? Because when I participated at some event
I always turned off the sound, so it would distract the speaker or event or
whatever. And usually I forgot to turn it back on when the event has ended. I
forget to do so, because I always can get home on my own. I live outside of the
city, so I have to take a train, but still I don’t mind it because I like to be
independent. But my parent’s plans can
change a lot during the day, so for unknown reasons they could think that they
will wait some extra 2-3 hours to take me home with a car as well. I can’t blame them that they are angry when
they have waited for me for some extra hours and I announce that I am already
in a train going home, but one thing really bugs me.
They
know I have again forgot to turn on the sound. It’s been always this case. So I
think if they have made me 5 missed calls. That’s enough. I got it. I know what
has happened again. But apparently they don’t think that would be enough. Because
I usually have 9 missed calls on average and 3 SMS. Now the SMS is the best
part. So when they make me 6 calls they already know the sound is turned off. I
don’t hear any sounds. But still they send me SMS with one word usually” Phone
me.” (In Latvian language that would be in one word)
Or
when they are already angry I receive something like. “Call me back
asshole”. BUT WHY???? Why to send
messages. I have turned OFF the sound. I don’t hear a long ring bell. Why would
I notice a short SMS signal? The sound is turned OFF. I have tried to explain
it to them, but apparently they just don’t get how mobile phones work. So I
will keep on forgetting to turn the sound ON and they will continue to spend
money with no logical reasons on sending me SMS.
