It’s
well common known fact that we have winter in Latvia. And it is no surprise
when the temperature falls below - 30 C. It usually happens only for a couple
of days during the winter. Usually we have something like - 7 on average, but
when its – 10 till -14 it feels like in real winter.
As
– 30 C is not something we are really used to, there is a rule that when it
falls – 25 C school children till 9th grade cannot go to school and when it
lowers till – 30 all school children are allowed not to go to school. Just
because it is too cold.
It
may seem weird for me now speaking about winter, because we have a summer here.
And what a summer it indeed is. This year no one will be able to say we didn’t
have a warm summer. For 2 weeks in a row we have temperature around +30
degrees. And that is not a common thing here in Latvia as well. We usually have
only a couple of that warm days. But now it goes on for 2 hell sunny/hot weeks.
And tomorrow……tomorrow is Monday. Not
the best day in the week. And to make it even better it will be the hottest day
in whole summer in this year. So sitting in office, with no conditioner in a
house that usually is cool, but now even our office house is really hot inside,
will be a challenge. I guess the water cooler will be a popular place, as well
café nearby that serves cold drinks.
I
want to propose that if it goes over + 30 C, all office workers that don’t have
conditioners are allowed not to go to work. They can bake at home, because
there we don’t have conditioners as well…….but we can walk in underwear all day long and go in shower 5 times a day, and that is basically the same as having a
conditioner.
